Paris, Day 3 - still more museums

Did you think the museum's were nearly over? We're just getting started. The Louvre was up next, but first a stop at l'Orangerie.

This guy is museum crazy. It's a good thing he brought a terabyte of photocards to fill up. I think he might have used them all.

Early in the day, Jor and I lost Rachel. Somewhere in l'Orangerie, since I spent way too long look at the Monets, I think Rachel decided to cut out early and head to the Louvre. She's got her own schedule to follow, and it was checkmarked and color coded.

Since technically I'd already spent time in many of these spaces, I was content to just follow those who wanted to experience as much as they could. As it was, when I finally left the waterlilies, Rach had vanished.

Joren and I sat around outside l'Orangerie for awhile waiting for her to appear from inside the museum. When she didn't, I went back in to look, and finally we decided she must have gone on to the Louvre. So we ventured into the glass pyramid and chose our viewing with abandon.

There's no good way to experience the Louvre unless you have a year and an unlimited pass. As it was, we had a day and strong legs, so we began at the Egyptians and moved forwards. Somehow, on the Daru staircase near the statue of Nike of Samothrace, I miraculously spotted Rachel coming down the hall. We took a celebratory photo.

The rest of the Louvre visit was your standard explosion of statuary, paintings, furnishings, architecture and of course, the Dutch masters. (we spent too long with the Dutch masters... I loved the Greek chariot statues and of course... mademoiselle mona.

There's not too much to say about the Louvre, mostly because it's one of the world's most famous museums and one cannot begin to explore all her riches in a few hours. We stayed till closing, and fatigued out on the beauty.

It's weird. In some ways, I remembered spending a formative year of my life here, and in other ways, I felt like I'd never been before. I'd like to make Paris my home again... at least for a time.
