Sevillian saint processionals
It seems like every week there is another procession.
I never found out what most of them were about, but surely one was Columbus' Day - el Dia de Colon. Our local church had this bier of Mary which was brought out very often and paraded through the streets. We soon discovered her pattern, and Joren was able to race up side streets and meet her as she turned the corner.
There was always a remarkable amount of incense smoke, and the men wore their white shirts on their heads as turbans because they supported the bier's weight on their shoulders and neck.
This procession occurred the night we got back from Tarifa. We got off the bus, walked home, and got stuck in the crowd.
